if the new chapters have taught me anything it's that i would've much prefered to get single chapters in a shorter amount of time than waiting a long time for multiple chapters in bulk

Crocodile's inability to truly get people to follow him is so interesting though, because in that way he's like the polar opposite of Luffy, who has the ability to draw people in and get them to follow him instead

And like it's not surprising Crocodile can't get anyone to be truly loyal to him (Daz Bones aside), since his primary method to get people to do as they're told is through (threats of) violence and money (if he has any). Like yes, that will get people to do as they're told, but you can't buy loyalty, you can't beat people into trusting you. And so, when shit hits the fan, who the fuck would stay for you, when you're like that

Of course, Crocodile is like that due to his trust issues, and god only knows what caused those trust issues. It's possible he was always like that, or past trauma caused him to become like that-- if it's the latter though, even if he was like more trusting of others once in the past, people still didn't stick with him in the end. The trust was one-sided

I think this also reflects in a really interesting way in Cross Guild actually, 'cause like. Despite being scared shitless, not even Buggy is willing to keep on taking Crocodile's shit. Even that clown has his limits before he starts a mutiny against Crocodile

And while Buggy hasn't really done anything to "earn" his current position in the world (like he hasn't Proven Himself in Combat, he's just Faked It Until He Made It), because he has treaten his underlings with basic kindness and respect, even if he's been lying through his teeth the whole time, that has been enough for Buggy to gain his followers' trust. And that's why Buggy's able to rile up people to follow him. While Crocodile can't.

Unironically makes me wonder what Daz sees in Crocodile that makes him want to follow Croc to literal hell and back

And I wonder what it really would take for Croc to be able to inspire people to follow him and be loyal to him, if it's even possible

Sometime in the early hours of the morning, Kinsale finds Senna asleep on the beach.  Senna doesn’t know when or how she could have possibly fallen asleep.  She and Joy talked for a long time. After Joy left, Senna’s mind was overwrought.  The last thing she remembers is staring up into the boundless sky, wondering how she would ever begin to wrap her mind around all she had learned.  Then suddenly it was morning.

Kinsale leads Senna back to the road.  She explains, apparently unfazed by Senna’s utter inability to comprehend, that the sand makes it hard to get her footing, which apparently has some bearing upon her ability to rip a hole in the fabric of the universe.

Once again they are nowhere, and then they are somewhere again.  Senna’s stomach turns and her head spins, but at this point she can’t decide whether it’s from the magic or…well, everything else.

“Oh, stars above, you must be very tired!” Kinsale exclaims at last.  Senna guesses this must be true, even though she doesn’t exactly feel tired.  She picks herself up off the ground and greets Ruthie, and then she allows Kinsale to usher her inside and up the stairs to bed.

Just like it was on the beach, Senna lies in bed for what seems like a very long time, feeling as though she couldn’t possibly go to sleep.  Then suddenly the light through the windows has changed, and Senna realizes it must be late in the afternoon.

I REALLY REALLY LIKED IT i cant put my thoughts into coherent order right now because its past midnight but oughghguhghgh it was so good

i replayed 1+2 as well since my save data didnt transfer over (it was on my previous laptop. i played it streaming for my friends and we voiced it but we finished it literally like. days before that laptop killed itself) and i figured itd be fun to get to replay them at my own pace (although i was trying to go a bit quickly to get to the new stuff. i think i played for like 8 hours the day it released and that was entirely just the first two chapters lol)

overall had an absolutely fantastic time. undertale is technically the reason ive gone down the hole of interests that i have (its a long story. just know that its what led me through getting into new stuff from the people i followed and thats somehow resulted in where i am now) and gettign to be here and play deltarune properly upon release finally is. so incredible.

it’s a very ‘mature’ series, in that it focuses a lot on the mundane day-to-day ups and downs of a relationship between women in their mid-20s. there's also a lot of focus on their friendships

the series intermittently breaks the 4koma format when there’s a flashback, it’s interesting how that affects the tone and atmosphere

at one point there was a pretty long gap between chapter releases, so even though it’s a series from 2009 the translation actually finished somewhat recently—I was super excited when it started updating again. it’s very charming, good for anyone who wants pure slice-of-life

So for today's mdzs edit/meme I decided to include a crossover post with ANOTHER piece of media that changed my life (idolish7) and their own canonical gays: Re:vale (this is also technically a crossover with the i7 shitposts I was gonna make/post this month for my birthday (along with another fandom) but yeah). This was made near the end of my initial mdzs hyperfixation before idolish7 (and many other idol-related/adjacent media) completely took over me for the next year or so.

I don't think I have to explain why these two are similar if you're familar with both series, but if you don't then all you need to know is that they are LITERALLY. THE SAME. Like when I watched second beat for the first time and Re:vale was introduced I was thinking "THIS IS LIKE WANGXIAN BUT THEY'RE IDOLS!".

Also fun fact: Yuki(guy with white hair)'s VA also voices Lan Wangji in the Japanese dub of the donghua and Momo's VA voices Wen Ning in the Japanese voice drama.

I just looked at the price on the back of a book I’ve had for a bit over a decade and it was four. fucking. dollars. Just four with no taxes. No extra 97cents or something before taxes. Just a round number that you would add taxes to.

I googled the price of a new edition and it was almost thirteen! Not an even thirteen, it was like 12.96 or something. Close enough that it’s basically thirteen but if you’re adding multiple items together to try and get the price on a purchase with more items it would add more confusion.
